Stoning Giants’ distinctive rock sound boasts flavors of metal, punk, soul and funk featuring the powerhouse voice of Lawrence Sawyer, high-energy guitar of C.J. Ries, progressive groove beats of Damon Sawyer and the bad-to-the-bone bass stylings of Jedediah Jester.

Stoning Giants was formed in 2013 and quickly began performing private parties, clubs and festivals, such as Seattle’s 2013 Hemp Fest. Stoning Giants’ break-out CD “Clear as Mud,” was released in 2014 and received airtime on KINK and 94.7 FM radio in Portland Ore.

In 2019 the single “Sifting Ashes,” a haunting tale of the 2018 Paradise Camp Fire, was released, receiving thousands of YouTube views.

Lawrence Sawyer – Vocals & Guitar

Sawyer is a mainstay rocker from Portland, Ore., formerly heading bands Diamond Edge, Core, Hundred Horse, Braid and Untyd. Sawyer has an original and organic sound.

Jedediah Jester – Bass Guitar

Jester, the groove master of Grants Pass, Ore., also played for several metal bands in Oregon including Untyd and Deflower.

CJ Ries – Lead Guitar

Ries, a home-grown Portlandian-shredder, is a young prodigy who channels every ‘70s rock song known to man. His electrifying sound and performance are a constant fan favorite.

Damon Sawyer – Drums

Son of Sawyer hails from Portland, Ore. He is a multi-faceted drummer. At age 12, his father challenged him to learn Tom Sawyer from Rush’s Moving Pictures album. He obsessively played through the album until he could grasp Neil Peart’s understanding of rhythm. He began his music career playing house parties, local venues and touring throughout the Northwest, notably with the band The Bright Midnight.
